The Brain, Spine & Vascular Neuroscience Institute (BSV Neuro) is overseen by the esteemed neurosurgeon Dr. Sabareesh Natarajan. BSV Neuro provides an exceptional experience for patients requiring neurosurgery and neurointerventional care, including treatment for brain aneurysms, brain tumors, and spinal ailments.

With several locations in the San Diego, CA area, Dr. Natarajan and his team present a comprehensive range of neurosurgery and neurointerventional treatment options, such as open surgery, catheter-based techniques, and radiation therapy. Dr. Natarajan is board-certified in both Neurological Surgery and Neurointerventional Surgery. His extensive expertise enables him to explore all available treatment avenues—ranging from open surgery and catheter interventions to radiation therapy—ensuring that options are tailored to each patient’s unique needs without favoring any specific treatment modality.

BSV Neuroscience partners with the neurosurgery, neuro-interventional, and neurooncology programs at Sharp Grossmont Hospital for Neuroscience, Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, Sharp Memorial Hospital, and the Spine and Brain Institute of San Diego. Previously, Dr. Natarajan directed the Open Vascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery Program and the Brain Tumor, Skull Base & Cranial Microsurgery Program at the University of Massachusetts (Boston, MA).

Dr. Natarajan’s expertise includes vascular issues impacting the brain and spine, brain aneurysms, vascular malformations, and ischemic or hemorrhagic strokes (e.g., carotid stenosis, Moyamoya). He performs bypass surgeries for the brain and microvascular decompression to relieve facial pain syndromes. His work also addresses venous disorders of the brain and spine.

In addition, Dr. Natarajan cares for patients with tumors of the brain, skull base, and spine, including intraaxial brain tumors like glioblastomas (GBMs) and brain metastases, as well as skull base tumors like meningiomas, acoustic neuromas, and pituitary tumors. Other tumor types he treats include chordomas, chondrosarcomas, Chiari malformations, pineal tumors, intraventricular tumors, and craniopharyngiomas.
